1776 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 6-76A, W-7790. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS III, Large Date. VF-30 (PCGS). 117.8 grains. Beautiful medium brown with nearly smooth surfaces. A little trivial granularity is seen under a glass, but no marks or flaws. Typical weakness on the profile and at central reverse, but well above average for this issue in terms of sharpness and overall quality. As perhaps the only collectible "colonial" coin with a 1776 date, this issue sees special and extraordinary demand.
