Lot Description

With a sharp strike, abundant frosty luster and pretty golden-apricot color, this minimally circulated 1853-D $5 is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into a high grade gold collection. This issue is a favorite among both mintmarked gold type collectors and Southern gold specialists, most of whom are pleased to settle for a lower grade survivor in VF or EF. The quality and eye appeal of the presently offered coin should insure that it finds a place in an advanced cabinet.
