1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony Oak Tree Shilling. Noe-5, W-470. Rarity-2. IN at Bottom. EF-45 (PCGS). 69.91 grains. Steel gray surfaces with varied gold and rose iridescence. A minor bend during the striking process has weakened the top of the tree, otherwise the devices are sharp and well-presented. Completely devoid of marks that require mention. Obverse rim through TS IN MAS, all other obverse letters and peripheral details bold and complete, usual die cud above THV at the rim, reverse finely centered and sharp. Undeniably choice for the grade with excellent eye appeal and physical quality. An ideal candidate for an advanced colonial specialist or for a collector who simply wants a pleasing example of the type.
