This Choice About Uncirculated example is an attractive representative of the issue. Rich greenish-gold surfaces are accented with splashes of orange-apricot color and retain appreciable frosty mint luster. Marks are few and virtually imperceptible during in-hand viewing. The coin displays a bold to sharp strike. As the final year of the Classic Head quarter eagle series, conventional wisdom would expect many pieces to have been numismatically preserved, but apparently that was not the case with this Philadelphia Mint issue. The Philadelphia mintage of 27,021 pieces shows surprisingly few grading events today.
