로트 설명

1858 Seated Liberty 10¢. Proof-63 PCGS. Deep steel-gray with reflective fields and lightly dusted motifs that reveal pale icy blue and peach iridescence in a bright light source. For more than a century it was thought that just 80 Proofs each were produced of this and the other silver denominations of the date, though today it is thought that the “300+” figure in the Red Book is more in line with known populations for these issues; PCGS suggests just 50-70 examples may be extant today. This exactingly struck dime is choice for the grade, and it is still the most elusive Proof issue among dimes 1858 to 1891. One of many great opportunities in the present sale that will likely go to an alert collector. PCGS #4747
