Lot Description

Breen Die State II. Deep chestnut and copper brown patina with a hint of olive overall. Both sides are nicely centered in strike with all design elements boldly to sharply rendered in the presence of light wear. Traces of microscopic roughness are hardly worth mentioning; marks are few, although a few hairline scratches on Liberty's portrait at central obverse are more significant. Even so, this piece presents as generally smooth during most viewing situations, and is a nice example of both the type and Sheldon number at the certified EF-45 level.
