- Noyes Die State A/A. The 1820/19 Newcomb-3 is a very challenging variety to find in true Mint State, and this is one of the finest known from these dies. A frosty and minimally marked piece, it also delivers considerable mint orange color that remains vivid in the protected areas around many of the design elements. Otherwise nicely toned in iridescent olive-brown, the surfaces reveal only faint flyspecks when examined under close scrutiny. Softly struck around the obverse periphery, also in and around the center on the reverse, although Liberty's portrait is sharp throughout. A lovely piece overall, and worthy of strong consideration, especially if you are assembling an advanced collection of die varieties for the middle date large cents.
