- Lot Description
- B-5a, C-5a. A late die state, weak in the reverse center where the die cracked dramatically. A poorly prepared planchet, there is a mint made crack seen at 8:00 on the reverse rim, and a planchet cutting mark that curves around on the upper reverse. Liberty's portrait is sharply struck, standing out against the light tan and olive hued surfaces. A strong glass shows some microscopic porosity, which is very normal for an early date half cent. Housed in an OGH. PCGS 21, NGC 4. Two examples have sold in auction this year, on in April 2018 for $2,520 and one in in February for $2,820. The current PCGS value is $2,800 and these are quite scarce in any grade. A neat early type coin for any collector Cert. Number 4692927 PCGS # 1018
