Lot Description

Die State 101.1. Charming surfaces are toned in soft mauve-gray and silver-apricot with halos of more vivid cobalt blue iridescence ringing the peripheries. Luster is full and softly frosted throughout, the strike likewise sharp for all design elements. Free of troublesome marks, a bit less muting to the finish due to the toning may have secured an even higher Mint State grade. This plentiful die pairing of the 1830 half dollar issue is a mainstay in type collections, although we stress that few are as well preserved or visually appealing as the near-Gem offered here.
