Lot Description

Lovely rose-brown surfaces exhibit exceptionally sharp definition in an example of this popular <em>Guide Book</em> type. The reverse is particularly noteworthy in this regard, with the seated figure overall bold and a couple of the digits in the date discernible, though faint. Slightly granular overall with a few areas of light pitting, there are, however, no individually distracting marks to inhibit the coin's appeal. The famous BRITANNIA type features a Vermont obverse die coupled with a counterfeit British halfpenny reverse that saw heavy use at the Machin's Mills minting sight.
