Lot Description: 1788 Vermont Copper. RR-24, Bressett 16-S, W-2200. Rarity-4. Bust Right. VF-35. 108.64 grains. Deep golden-brown with some light microgranularity present under low magnification, especially so on the reverse. Evenly centered on both sides. Obverse with an old toned-over small scrape below the bust, tiny pit in field at lips, usual depression and cracks above head, advanced horn die break at chest, otherwise a flawless piece, reverse exhibits no single mark worthy of individual description. The weight metrology for Ryder-24 is outlined in the Carlotto reference as follows: "The RR-24 has a wide weight range. Most specimens are below 100 grains, and weigh in at between 90 and 100 grains. The highest weight in my research was 119.2 grains." The present coin is undeniably choice for both the type and the Vermont copper series in general, and no doubt bidding on the lot will prove this point. PCGS# 563.
