Manley Die State 1.0. Wonderfully original surfaces are toned in mottled gray and glossy-brown patina, with both sides retaining plenty of original mint orange color. Satin to softly frosted in finish, and smooth enough to evoke thoughts of a full Gem Mint State rating. This is an expertly produced example with virtually full detail to even the most intricate design elements.<p>Although the Mint delivered no half cents during calendar year 1834, more than 5,000 examples of this date are known, including a number of Red Brown and Red coins that suggest the existence of a hoard at some point. The Mint did record two deliveries of half cents on December 31, 1835, one for 141,000 coins, the other for 398,000 pieces, and Bill Eckberg (2019) believes that approximately 210,000 of the latter represent the entire mintage from the sole 1834-dated die pairing. This is an especially nice Choice Uncirculated survivor that would make an impressive addition to a high grade set.
