- BD Die State a/a. This is one of the more vividly colored Heraldic Eagle $10s that we have offered in recent years. The surfaces are generally deep honey-olive gold, but with enhancing blushes of reddish-rose patina shining forth powerfully from the protected areas around the peripheral design elements. Accuracy compels us to report that this is secondary color, both sides curiously glossy in texture with light hairlines that point to a long-ago cleaning or other mishandling. We stress, again, that the eye appeal is strong, and some of the original frosty to semi-reflective mint finish can still be discerned as the coin rotates under a light. Overall bold strike detail is also a praiseworthy attribute, the border denticulation complete and many of the finer elements of Liberty's portrait and the eagle's plumage razor sharp.
