1785 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 1-B, W-1880. CONSTELATIO, Blunt Rays. AU-58 (PCGS). 118.4 grains. A glossy and hard golden-tan specimen with exceptional eye appeal the order of the day. The devices are all crisply presented, especially at the all-seeing eye where the details are about as bold as ever found for the variety. Usual die state with a break at the bottom of the obverse wreath just above the date, and with the tell-tale signs of die rust throughout the other wreath details. From the misspelled die with a single L in CONSTELLATIO. A small spot of green verdigris is found at the N of NOVA, otherwise the viewer will be hard-pressed to find a mark or blemish of any size. Choice for the grade, and a grand opportunity to add your name to the illustrious list of former owners such as Virgil Brand and, of course, Ted Craige.
