THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION, PART V What a lovely GEM Cameo Proof 1887 half dollar. Brilliant flashy mirrors have a pleasing clarity and are virtually untoned (save for the faintest blush of iridescent gold). Frosty devices provide a bold contrast on both sides. Only 710 Proofs were struck. PCGS 26, NGC 14. The most recent example to sell realized $3,658 in November 2021 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $4,750.
