Lot Description

BD Die State c/b. A generally bright olive-gold example with lighter wheat-gold color in the protected areas around the design elements, where remnants of frosty mint luster are most pronounced. The centers are somewhat softly defined, the reverse with several adjustment marks (as made) in this area, detail bolder toward the borders, where uniform denticulation frames both sides. A tad glossy in texture from numismatic handling, yet free of singularly distracting marks. All in all, a suitable certified Choice AU type candidate from the challenging Capped Bust Left half eagle series of 1807 to 1812.
