Lot Description

Heck DS2, Breen Die State III. Dark ebony-brown in color, the surfaces are hard and frosty with modest gloss. Nicely centered in strike and otherwise sharply defined for the NGC-assigned grade, minor softness along the lower left reverse border involves the 1/100 denomination and (especially) the letters UNI in UNITED. Microscopically rough with scattered marks that are most prominent at and around Liberty's nose at upper right obverse. The mess of deep clash marks above the head and lack of a die crack from the lower border before the digit 1 in the date confirm the Heck DS1 attribution. EAC Fine 15 due to the dark color and surface roughness, but a coin that retains plenty of sharpness to be of interest to a wide variety of collectors.
