Noyes Die State B/A. This satiny Gem exhibits mottled gray-brown patina with considerable orange-red mint color also very much in evidence. Boldly defined from a nicely centered and well executed strike, this coin holds particular appeal for high grade type purposes. Discovered beneath an old railroad platform in Georgia shortly after the Civil War, the Randall Hoard included thousands of Mint State Matron Head cents dated 1816 to 1820. A major portion of this hoard was comprised of 1820 Newcomb-13 coins, the present example likely included.
