Lot Description

Wisps of powder blue and champagne-apricot iridescence visit the peripheries of this otherwise golden-tinged example. Both sides are boldly to sharply struck and frosty with only faint hairlines from numismatic handling to preclude a higher Mint State rating. The Reeded Edge Capped Bust half dollars of 1836 to 1839 are among the more conditionally challenging types in the classic U.S. coinage series. This obviously important BU example of the distinct HALF DOL reverse variety is seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a Mint State type set.
