1836 Capped Bust Half Dime. LM-5. Rarity-2. Small 5 C. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC. A handsome coin, richly original surfaces are toned in a bold blend of pearl gray, pale rose, powder blue and golden-apricot patina that provides outstanding visual appeal. Fully frosted in finish with a razor sharp strike and silky smooth throughout. When Logan and McCloskey (1998) suggested that "Mint State examples are readily available," they certainly did not mean attractive Gems such as this. Scarce for both the type and die pairing, there is much to recommend this coin. PCGS Population (both die marriages of the Small 5 C variety): 14; 9 finer (MS-67+ finest). PCGS# 4288.
