Lot Description

BD Die State c/b. Coveted CAC approval confirms this as an outstanding circulated type candidate from the challenging Capped Bust Left half eagle series of 1807 to 1812. Rich colors in deep tan-honey and warmer rose-gold blend on surfaces retain appreciable luster in a soft satin texture. The strike is well centered and, while a bit soft at the high points of the eagle at central reverse, is sharp elsewhere in the absence of all but light wear. Wispy handling marks from a brief stint in circulation are most noticeable at left obverse, a few grazes in the field before the bust noted for accuracy. Visually pleasing for an AU survivor of this type, this handsome piece will surely sell for a strong bid to a discerning collector.
