ロット詳細

BB Die State III-IV, with the obverse die beginning to shatter in the date area. BB-168 is among the scarcer die marriages for the 1799-dated silver dollar issue, its elusiveness no doubt attributed to the ever-present bisecting reverse crack that must have resulted in the early withdrawal of that die from production. This is a lightly toned, silver and pewter gray example with all major design elements boldly defined in the presence of overall moderate wear. Wispy hairlines and some glossiness to the texture are noted for accuracy, but no sizeable marks are seen.
