1846 Liberty Head Half Eagle. Large Date. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC. Glints of pale silver adorn otherwise deep honey-orange surfaces on both sides of this attractively original example. Lustrous and frosty with a touch of granularity to the finish, typical for a half eagle from the 1840s. With survivors of this 395,942-piece issue elusive and typically grading VF or EF, this scarce Choice AU is sure to appeal to advanced Liberty Head gold collectors.
