- Lot Description
- 1843-D Liberty Quarter Eagle. MS-60 (NGC). This is the Small D variety. Well struck with just a touch of softness on Liberty's uppermost curls but the eagle's talons are separated. Soft golden-orange in color, and a rarity in any mint state grade. The present coin has minor bagmarks scattered over the surfaces, including a nick on the tip of Liberty's nose. The usual die cracks are present on the reverse, one down through the first S of STATES to the beak, another on the right side of the D in the denomination to the stem above.
