CHINA. Kiangnan. 1 Mace 4.4 Candareens (20 Cents), CD (1899). Nanking Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS AU-58. L&M-225; K-77; KM-Y-143A.2; WS-0810. Variety with old style dragon with deep scales ("cartoon dragon"). A very presentable and lightly handled example, this near-Mint specimen provides tremendous details and very little evidence of actual wearing on the surfaces. Handsome mottled toning adds to the sublime antique beauty of the piece, and we expect much competition for this problem free minor. Estimate: $600 - $900.
