A fantastic GEM example that borders on the SUPERB category and is the SECOND HIGHEST graded example at both services. The 1871 is one of the toughest dates to find in FULL RED, and this one is an exceptionally high end example. A strong brilliant luster radiates all over with both sides. The devices are crisply struck up. The surfaces are vibrant and clean with an exceptional eye appeal that is exciting to look at. PCGS 1, NGC 0. This coin has not sold in auction but the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $33,500. There is a single MS67 RD graded higher, also a coin that has not sold in auction. A PCGS MS66 sold for $12,600 in the 2022 FUN auction.
