Lot Description

1843 Liberty Head Half Eagle. Breen-Unlisted. Repunched Date. AU-50 (PCGS). Warmly patinated in honey-gold, this suitably lustrous AU also retains bold to sharp striking detail to most design elements. Struck from the same obverse die as the AU-55 and AU-53 examples offered above, albeit in a later state with repunching at the base of the digit 1 in the date weak and that at the lower left corner of the adjacent 8 virtually absent.
