Lot Description

With a mintage of 800 pieces coined for circulation one understands that all survivors of the 1885 $3 gold issue are scarce. Perhaps a few hundred exist today, indeed if that many, to represent the issue. The vivid rose-orange and honey-gold surfaces of the present example are further enhanced by wisps of reddish-pink iridescence. Boldly defined.
