- Die State 107.1. This dazzling upper end Gem is alone at CC#1 for the 1831 Overton-107 dies per the census listing in the Autumn 2025 revision the Stephen J. Herrman's Auction & Mail Bid Prices Realized for Bust Half Dollars: 1794-1839. It is a gorgeous example of an issue that is surprisingly difficult to locate this nice. Most Mint State survivors of the 1831 that we handle, and irrespective of die pairing, are indifferently struck and/or possessed of inferior luster. Not so this piece. Both sides exhibit a bright, satin to softly frosted texture that is as intense as the day the coin was struck. And speaking of strike, it is bold to sharp throughout with the focal devices in the centers essentially full. Overall smooth, the entire package is dressed in delicate silver-apricot iridescence that speaks volumes about the coin's originality. Finest certified for the variety, and among the finest known for the issue as a whole, this delightful piece is sure to sell for a premium bid.
