Rare CAC-Approved 1853-D Half Eagle 1853-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 34-Y. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC. This bright and frosty example retains nearly full mint luster to vivid orange-apricot surfaces. Wisps of attractive pinkish-rose iridescence are more prevalent on the reverse. Sharply defined overall. A CAC population of 68 coins in all grades, circulated and Mint State, confirms the rarity of premium quality examples among 1853-D half eagles. Worthy of the strongest bids.
