ロット詳細

Deep, rich, honey-orange and rose-gold colors blend on both sides of this boldly to sharply defined example. Faint hairlines and a touch of glossiness to the texture betray an old, light cleaning, although the in-hand appearance remains smooth and nicely composed. All three-dollar gold pieces are scarce, those from the San Francisco Mint very scarce to rare throughout the numismatic grading scale. This 1856-S is visually pleasing for the assigned grade and would make a nice addition to many advanced collections.
