Lot Description
1858-S Liberty Head Half Eagle. VG-8 (PCGS). CAC. An unusually well worn, yet charming example of this challenging early San Francisco Mint half eagle issue. All major design elements are boldly outlined, and we even note faint remnants of satiny mint luster as the coin rotates under a light. From a mintage of 18,600 pieces for the 1858-S half eagle, the vast majority of which were consumed by commercial use long ago. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection. PCGS# 8279. NGC ID: 25VA.
