- 1804 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-7. Rarity-4. Small 8/Large 8. EF-45 (PCGS). OGH--First Generation. From an early state of the obverse with Small 180 clearly over Large 180. Deep yellow-gold with lively olive and orange highlights. Evenly circulated but not noticeably marked save for some vertical planchet adjustment marks in Liberty's hair, as struck and not overly distracting. Struck from noticeably clashed dies. One of 30,475 half eagles of the date struck, a figure that encompasses the Small 8 variety as well as the Small 8 Over Large 8 variety offered here; the availability factor is similar for both varieties. A coin that holds up well to careful scrutiny. The first generation PCGS holder has coin # 8085 on the insert, which is now reserved for the Small 8 Guide Book variety of the 1804 half eagle.
