- Noyes Die State B/B. Light golden-orange through the date and around the rightmost stars, while the remaining areas have mellowed to deeper steel with faint highlights of blue. The reverse is mottled olive and tan. Nice luster seen on both sides. Struck from the later state of the dies with die rust present, but neither it nor the flowlines are pronounced. Obvious die clashing is seen before Liberty's face and within the wreath, left of the denomination ONE CENT. We can trace this desirable example back more than 70 years to the collection of copper specialist John P. Young. It would eventually pass through the hands of such luminaries as T. James Clarke and Herbert M. Oechsner, and more recently was offered as part of the incredible Twin Leaf Collection in our July 2015 sale.
