1896-O Barber Half Dollar. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. Elusive even in lower grades, the 1896-O obviously suffered a higher rate of attrition than normal even for a lower mintage (924,000 pieces) O-mint Barber half dollar. In the experience of this cataloger (Jeff Ambio), in fact, the 1896-O is one of the most challenging issues of the type to locate in attractive, problem-free EF and AU.
