- One of the finest examples from these dies that we can ever recall offering. The surfaces are fully Choice in quality with dominant toning in richly original antique copper-brown. Faint traces of mint luster persist, nonetheless, and are mostly concentrated at the right obverse and reverse peripheries. The texture is hard and frosty, a bit rough (as made, from die erosion), with no significant marks or other blemishes. The borders are somewhat soft, especially at right, but the design elements offer sharp to full strike detail. This is a lovely, high grade example of both the type and Newcomb number that is eagerly awaiting inclusion in an advanced collection.
