- An unusually low grade for a classic U.S. Mint gold, and likely a former pocket piece as these Capped Bust Right half eagles did not normally circulate outside of large transactions between and within the banking industry, mercantile community, and Treasury Department. Gently handled despite the presence of moderately heavy wear, the surfaces display no sizeable or otherwise significant marks. Portions of the reverse periphery are more heavily worn than elsewhere, but all major design elements are appreciable, and most are bold. The surfaces are also richly original and dressed in deep honey-gold with pretty reddish-gold patina engaging many of the peripheral features. A fleeting opportunity for the type collector to acquire an example of this pre-1834 gold type at a premium level of circulated preservation that is seldom encountered.
