Breen Die State II. Dark steely-copper surfaces with intermingled deep rose-brown. Microgranularity is noted, but there are few marks, and none that are sizeable or otherwise significant enough to warrant individual attention. A shallow depression over and around the digit 7 in the date is a strike through of foreign matter that clogged the die, with a similar feature less easily seen in the lower left obverse field. Otherwise boldly to sharply defined for the grade, and visually appealing despite the minor surface issues. The Generation 3.0 PCGS insert uses coin #1431, which is now reserved for the Style I Hair <em>Guide Book</em> variety of the 1798 Draped Bust cent.
