Lot Description

A stunning piece, expertly preserved with wisps of delicate champagne-pink iridescence and lovely mint luster on both sides. There are no marks of note, as befits the assigned grade, and there are also none of the detracting water spots so often seen on late date circulation strike Franklin half dollars. The strike is crisp and readily upholds the FBL designation from PCGS. Rare at this certified grade level, the 1961-D is a workhorse issue with most examples poorly produced and carelessly handled before entering commerce. A refreshing exception, the offered coin has much that will appeal to advanced Franklin half dollar enthusiasts.
