1797 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-71, B-3. Rarity-2. Bowers Die State III. Stars 10x6. VF-25 (NGC). Otherwise brilliant surfaces exhibit blushes of vivid autumn-orange and blue-gray iridescence here and there around the obverse periphery. The strike appears to have been a bit soft overall, and the mingling of moderate wear further explains the lack of detail in some areas both at the borders and toward the centers. All devices are clearly discernible, however, and some bolder definition is noted for the protected areas of the obverse portrait and reverse eagle. A mid-grade representative of the scarce and conditionally challenging Draped Bust, Small Eagle Silver Dollar.
