Lot Description

Although the 497,000-piece delivery of the three-cent silver denomination is similar to that of the 1859, 1860 and 1862, examples are relatively affordable and obtainable through the Choice BU level of preservation. However, the coin in the present lot is a conditionally scarce Gem of this date, and a representative that will warrant a considerable premium from the specialist collector. Richly toned with vivid steel-blue, rose and reddish-orange patina to frosty, boldly impressed surfaces.
