1842-D Liberty Half Eagle. Small Date. AU-58 (NGC). Prooflike yellow gold surfaces with lively luster on frosty devices and modestly reflective fields. A popular Dahlonega Mint issue in an equally popular collector grade. Fewer than 10 examples of the variety have been graded finer than the present coin by NGC, the best of those MS-63.
