A remarkable combination of strike detail and surface preservation identify this as one of the finest 1952-S half dollars seen by PCGS. Full, billowy, satin-textured luster flows over virtually pristine surfaces. Largely brilliant, although we do note a hint of pale pink iridescence overall, as well as lightly speckled golden-copper at upper obverse. This captivating Superb Gem has eye appeal to spare.<p>At 5.5 million pieces struck, the 1952-S is a lower mintage circulation strike Franklin half dollar. Rick Tomaska (2023) asserts that this issue was not hoarded to a great extent, further explaining the relative scarcity of Mint State survivors. The offered coin is tied with only four other grading events in MS-67 FBL to quality as top pop at PCGS. At this level the 1952-S is "extremely rare" (as described by Tomaska), and this lovely piece will be a perfect fit for a leading Franklin half dollar collection on the PCGS Set Registry.
