Lot Description

Breen Die State IV. Faded mint orange color is readily evident on the obverse of this otherwise warmly toned, olive and medium brown example. There is no denticulation along the borders at right, and the right half of the wreath on the reverse is a bit soft, but otherwise this is a boldly defined coin in a lightly circulated Draped Bust cent. Scattered marks are either consistent with the assigned grade or original to the planchet, the latter mostly concentrated within the softly struck portion of the wreath and in the opposite area on the obverse, read: at and around Liberty's chin. The Widmer Family Sheldon-169 is included in the 2000 Bland census, in which it is tied for CC#7 with an EAC grade of VF35.
