1871 Pattern Dime. Judd-1082, Pollock-1218. Rarity-8. Proof-63 (NGC). Standard Silver design with Liberty seated left on the obverse. Liberty is wearing a feathered headdress, her right hand supports a liberty pole and her left hand rests atop a globe inscribed LIBERTY. Two flags are behind the portrait, 13 stars encircle the periphery and the date 1871 is below. On the reverse we see a wreath a cotton and corn around the denomination 10 CENTS, with the word STANDARD inscribed along the upper border. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge.<br />     Satiny devices and mirrored fields offer some semblance of a cameo finish for this mostly silver-white specimen. Accuracy compels us to mention some light oxidation to the surfaces over the top of Liberty's portrait, the globe and the lower-left portion of the reverse wreath. One of only two or three examples of the type believed to exist!
