Lot Description

Tompkins Die Stage 2/1. Boldly toned in an AU example of this readily identifiable variety, remnants of the errant star under the letter Y in LIBERTY are plainly evident under magnification. Mottled steel-olive (obverse) and orange-russet (reverse) patina enlivens a base of warm pewter gray. There are light adjustment marks here and there around the obverse periphery, but all major design elements are boldly to sharply defined. A bit subdued, yet with no sizeable marks or otherwise significant blemishes.
