A fascinating variety, Rick Snow states of this MPD in his 2014 <em>Flying Eagle & Indian Cent Attribution Guide</em>:<p><em>This variety was initially listed because of the die break, commonly called a "cud", in the center of the coin. Later, in the 1998 Fly-In club attribution guide, this variety was delisted as cuds are die states and not listed as separate die varieties. Later, the misplaced digits were discovered by Larry Steve. Some specialists are unsure if there are actually digits in the feathers because the digits are well hidden among the feathers. The overlays presented should dispel the skeptics.</em><p><em>This variety is now very interesting to collectors. The prominent die cud makes spotting this variety easy.</em><p>Handsome tan-gray patina mingles with more vivid medium orange color as this boldly defined example rotates under a light. The diagnostics of the Snow-16 attribution are clearly seen under magnification, although the variety is not noted on the old style NGC holder.
