CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 3.6 Candareens (5 Cents), Year 25 (1899). PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. L&M-458; K-200; KM-Y-69; WS-0628. Exceeded in the PCGS census by just a sole specimen, this choice minor presents great brilliance and a soft gray tone on the dragon side, while presenting a darker amber tone on the characters side. A full two points higher than the Mas Fera example, which realized a total of $5,040 in our October 2020 Hong Kong auction (lot 42052). Estimate: $5,000 - $7,500.
