Lot Description

Fully struck with a smooth satin texture, this beautiful Superb Gem also offers iridescent toning in champagne-gold, powder blue and, on the reverse, warmer pearl gray. Survivors of this 1,275-piece issue are among the more frequently encountered Proofs from the early Buffalo nickel series, including in high grades such as Proof-67, and they are eagerly sought by specimen type and date collectors. Such strong demand, however, confirms that buying opportunities for superior pieces, as here, are scarce.
