1843-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 10-G. Small D. EF-40 (PCGS). CAC. The 1843 Small D half eagle variety is much scarcer than its Medium D counterpart, from the same date and mint. To date, PCGS has graded 203 examples of the Medium D type, but only 29 Small D pieces. This EF example displays essentially complete design details, and golden-honey surfaces that show a number of shallow surface blemishes on each side. PCGS# 98215.
